Why the date moved
The original session was built as a walkthrough. The amended session is a live build. The practical result is straightforward. A vendor terms update cannot reach into a matter still being worked. A price increase cannot be applied to a system already paid for and installed. A shutdown notice cannot strand a case file, because that file was never sitting on infrastructure owned by someone else.
Why data privacy makes this urgent now
Client confidentiality is a professional obligation, and every per seat subscription places some part of that obligation with a third party. Matter documents, client contact records, billing detail, and increasingly the contents of AI prompts all sit on vendor servers under vendor terms that change without negotiation. Training data policies shift. Retention windows change. Subprocessors are added.
Firms carrying sensitive matters have a real reason to know exactly where client files live and who can read them.
